Benefits Of A Food Diary

Whether you want to gain sexy ripped abs or not, it is good idea to keep a food diary so you can assess how healthy your diet is. Write down everything you eat in the diary for the completion of a 30-day program. Use a handy notebook that you can carry around with you all the time (but big enough) to fill in all the details. Write down exactly what you eat and record the reason/reasons why you ate it.

It is a good idea to make the entries before you eat the particular food item because it is very easy to forget snacks, but the only person you will be cheating is yourself.

Whenever it is possible, begin your food diary even before you start the program. This can happen even if it is just only a few days before. It can be a real eye-opener to see how much you habitually eat. After a few days of filling in the dairy, you should see a pattern emerge and you will also get a good idea whether you daily diet is just imaginary. The food diary will pinpoint clearly whether you consumed any excess food. Unnecessary snacking are often the worst enemies of lean bodies.

Before writing your food diary, I would advise you to check out the health eating pyramid to avoid eating the wrong foods. Breads, grains and cereals should be eaten in the largest amounts and you should aim to eat a portion at each meal, about 5 portions a say. Protein is an essential if you want to develop strong abs. Try to eat 2-3 servings of protein a day. Dairy products such as milk, yogurt and cheese are an important source of protein and calcium. You should avoid fats (especially trans fat and the likes), oily food items and sweets as much as possible.

Having a solid dietary strategy is crucial towards obtaining the perfect ripped abs. If you can stick strictly to them, you will eventually achieve well-defined lean abs without any problems.
