Your kids may prefer a steady diet of high sugar and high fat foods. But, they are a lot less likely to gain weight if they learn to eat like you, rather than vice versa. In short, eating like your kids can be destructive to your abs. So what can you do about it?
For a start, don't let them (or yourself) eat lots of processed snack foods like goldfish crackers, chips or soda. Get them in the habit of eating well. Focus on eating three meals a day that include proteins and lots of complex carbohydrates (veggies and whole grains). Snacks include fruits and proteins.
When you are out in a fast food outlet with your kids, you should try to round out a fast food meal with skim milk (even if it is chocolate flavored) or yogurt (make sure it doesn't have too much sugar) and lots of water to help get rid of all the salt those fast food meals typically contain.
Lastly, you can bring your own lunch. While it may sound pathetic to you, it's actually a great idea for your abs. Not only it saves you money, but also insures that you will get a healthy meal.
When preparing you own lunch, don't fall into the trap of flavorless diet foods because favor-free doesn't mean less calories. Instead, use your sense of smell to your advantage to make your weight control efforts a success. Add flavor to your food with citrus, garlic, onion and other spices to help satisfy your taste buds.
Your best bet? Turkey or cheese on whole-meal bread with lettuce, a salad, a cup of soup and a treat for dessert, such as two Hershey's Kisses or a piece of fruit. By trying your best to win the dieting game, you are many huge steps closer towards achieving lean, ripped abs.
