If you are not using yoga to train your abs, you are missing out an effective and double quick way to achieve the abs you wanted. Besides training your abs, yoga can train your mind to focus and concentrate better, increasing the efficiency of your ab workouts. Read on to find how to perform them.
Yoga crunches - Lie on your back and bring your knees to your chest. Rest your hands over your head on the floor behind you. Raise your legs with feet flexed towards the ceiling. Use your abs to slowly guide your legs downwards. Stop when you feel your back arching. Hug your legs to your chest again. Build up to 10 in a row.
Locust pose - Lie on your stomach so that your chin is on the floor and your arms are extended in front of you. Engage your abs. Inhale and lift your arms, chest, head, legs and feet off the floor. Hold for 3 seconds then slowly lower to the floor. Repeat 5 times.
Bending forward pose - Sit with your legs stretched together in front of you. Point your toes. Inhale and stretch towards your toes with your finger tips, keeping your body long and extended. Hold for thirty seconds. Breathe normally. Return to the starting position. Repeat.
Lastly, it's essential to breathe normally when performing your ab workouts or yoga moves. Taking deep inhalations and exhalations will not only wake the dormant abdominal muscles but it also helps you stretch deeper when performing yoga. Your breathing will also help stability and prepares you for other core-building moves. Whenever you feel like you have stretched as far as you, take a deep inhale. Maybe you feel that you can no longer do another repetition! Don't worry, just feel your abs sink into a deeper stretch or it will soon be easy to push through one more repetition.
