If you are one person who has already achieved your ripped abs, I must congratulate for overcoming all the obstacles and achieving ripped abs. You must have gone a long way from flab to abs. However, things don't stop right here. If you think you can go back to your old days where you drink and party everyday, I'm sorry to disappoint you. You have to maintain your ripped abs if you want to continuing seeing your nice abs the next morning. Read on to find out how to do that.
Firstly, keep on exercising. From time to time, it's also worth checking that you are performing the exercises correctly as sloppy work makes out for a sloppy body. For instance, make sure that you are maintaining control in the abdominals area rather than using the momentum of your body to do the required number of repetitions. And take it slowly and you will derive far more benefit from a few high-quality repetition than from many low-quality ones.
Secondly, I recommend you to try working out every other day. This is fine for the first six weeks or so, but after that I think you can safely reduce the number of sessions to five or six times every fortnight. If you are looking to burn body fat, you might want to alternate them with sessions that are pure cardio work. Of course, with time on your hands, you can carry on working out every other day. On caveat though, is to never be tempted to over exert your body. While it's true that your abs seem to recover a little more quickly than many other muscle groups, they still need rest. Stick to my rule of thumb of allowing at least 48 hours between ab workouts. And consider increasing the intensity of your ab workouts slowly after that.
There is no finishing line for training abdominal muscles. Even though you have successfully obtained ripped abs, you should continue to exercise to achieve a healthy lifestyle.
