Dieting does not have long term success for most people. It often involves reducing your food intake, calories and food variety to unhealthy levels. Many fad diets require you to cut out entire food groups, which isn't wise. Instead, eat a wide variety of foods rather than depriving yourself in the long run. But, do eliminate the big offenders that are nutritionally void and deliver a lot of fat, carbohydrates as well as calories.
A few good examples include soda, chips, junk food, fried foods and desserts. Also, do make mental notes when your abs needs to look their best, and seek to eat a low or no- carbohydrates diet. Certainly, don't eliminate carbohydrates from your diet entirely without advice of your doctor nutritionist. When you do eat carbohydrates, keep them to a minimum (one slice of bread instead of two) and stick to whole-grain products only.
Additionally, you should eat some protein at every meal. Not only it's an essential fuel for your abs, it can make you feel full and staves of blood sugars spikes, which make your energy level fluctuate. Some good protein snacks include string cheese, peanut butter, hard cheese, lunch meat and hard-boiled eggs.
Some people even try to keep their stomach from pooching out by cleaning out their intestine with laxatives. This is absolutely not a good idea. These measures must only be taken if it is recommended by a doctor. Otherwise, your food may pass through your system faster. This is directly harmful when the vitamins, nutrients and minerals are yet to be absorbed by the body, robbing you of vital nutrition.
Lastly, it is important not to go crazy over your diet and it's alright to give in to cravings occasionally. A balanced diet is sufficient to fuel your ab workouts and cardio exercises. Eventually, you will be able to turn your flab into fab.
